Detention Center Officials Worried Smoking Ban Will Cause Problems

DANVILLE, Ky. -- Officials at Boyle County Detention Center are worried a new smoking ban could lead to a rise in tension at the central Kentucky facility.

The jail banned tobacco products effective Feb. 1 in an effort to get ahead of pending legislation that would require all jails to become smoke-free later this year if they expect to house state inmates.

The jail stopped selling products at its canteen in December, and many inmates have already run out of their stash. .
